How does ScrapCATapp work for the Buyers?
What is the charge for Buyers to make a bid on my scrap catalytic converters? - Part B

MB:
This sounds very, very easy for my current buyers. But what about the auction and making bids, are they going to be concerned about other people seeing what they bid? I can see them not wanting anyone to have this information public, especially if they lose.
CG:

This is a really, really good question and point.

Buyers do not see other buyer’s bids.

And the Buyer’s bid is completely anonymous to the Seller. The Seller does not know who is bidding on their Units until they accept/award the Bid. All the Seller sees is the price being offered for their LOT. Setting up the auction this way protects the buyers.

SV:

Let’s take a look at a sample bid page, this way you can see exactly what the Seller sees.

As you can see, the Seller does not see any information about the buyer, the only thing the Seller sees is the buyer’s bid (and any special Buyer Terms that the buyer has made.)

MB:
What happens when the buyer wins or loses?
CG:

Here is what happens when the Seller awards the auction:

The winning buyer receives an email from ScrapCATapp informing them they won the auction and advises the next steps and the Seller’s contact information. Then they get a contract from ScrapCATapp and they proceed with paying for the LOT and arranging for shipping of the Units from the Seller. No information about the other buyers or the other bids is given to the winning buyer.

The losing buyer(s) receives an email from ScrapCATapp informing them that they have not won the auction. The only additional information they receive is the winning bid amount. They do not find out who the Seller is nor are they informed of the identity of the winning buyer nor any other buyers who bid.

SV:

We provide the losing buyers with the winning bid amount so they will know how much they need to increase their bid (Sharpen their pencil!) on the next LOT!

MB:
This is great, I will definitely pass this information on to my current buyers. Expect them to be signing up.
SV:

We will take care of them, send them our way. But… Don’t be surprised if they are not excited to sign up right away.

CG:

Unfortunately, our system does intimidate some scrap catalytic converter buyers. We have found that some buyers do not like the Sellers forcing them to be competitive with other buyers.

They want to control the transaction and because of this, they make a lot of excuses for why they don’t want to or can’t sign-up to view and bid your Units via our ScrapCATapp Marketplace.

MB:
Really? I don’t understand. Doesn’t this system and process make buyers’ lives a lot easier? The way I see it, they can sign up for free and they get instant access to thousands of Units every month, is there any other website or program that helps them like this? And, given the COVID issue, isn’t this a great way for them to source units and follow the strict social distancing protocols?
SV:

Yes, No, and Yes! If you are a strong buyer with good prices, you will enjoy and appreciate the benefits our system offers.

CG:

Keep in mind, Scott and I used to be buyers and we set this platform up to benefit BOTH Sellers and buyers... But some buyers don’t see the benefits, they only see the negatives. And, let’s be honest, most buyers don’t want to lose business, nor do they want to just compete on price.

SV:

As buyers ourselves we realize the biggest benefit of ScrapCATapp is that we have decreased the customer acquisition cost to $0! It does not cost buyers anything to get access to thousands of units every month! And.. they don’t have to spend time on travel, spend money on trucks, gas, or employees to go to the yards to bid on Units. Imagine if you had access to thousands of customers and it didn’t cost you anything to sign up? Would you do it?

MB:
I absolutely would. I wish I had the opportunity to grow my business. Thanks for sharing what the other side looks like. I will talk to my buyers and let them know you are ready to help them get on the system to view and bid on my converters. I hope they decide they are willing to compete for my business.
SV:

We hope so too! Our system is strongest when we have a critical mass of Sellers AND buyers. We will work with your current buyer and do everything we can to get them on our system and bidding on your Units.

CG:

These are your converters, you should control the transaction and sell them the way YOU want to sell them!

Thank you for the questions!
